If virtual currency becomes a medium of exchange, such that it is purchased with real money to upgrade games, then its acquisition must be through permissible means. This includes browsing advertisements, provided that the advertised product is inherently permissible and the viewer can avoid religious prohibitions within the advertisement. However, if the product is forbidden, or if it is not possible to avoid the prohibitions, then it is not permissible to earn money by browsing it. The ruling on earning money depends on the ruling of the advertised game; if it is permissible, there is no objection, otherwise it is not.
