Must I divorce my wife despite my attempts to bring her to Islam, her respect for the Islamic religion, my fears of becoming a father to children who do not adhere to the faith, and my continued feeling of guilt over deceiving her to obtain residency and citizenship?

One of the greatest afflictions is the youth's pursuit of citizenship in infidel countries, unless there is a necessity. Marriage has conditions; if these conditions are met, it is valid. If the conditions for your marriage to a Kitābiyyah (woman of the Book) are met, then it is valid. Divorce is permissible, and there is no harm in marrying with the intention of divorce. If you fear for your children from this marriage, then it is better to divorce her or not to have children with her. It is permissible not to have children if one fears that the child will become an infidel or due to the corruption of the times.
