Why does a young man who was committed to his faith, and whose prayers were answered by Allah, feel distant from Allah, lose the sweetness of faith, become depressed, and find acts of worship burdensome, after having masturbated once? And is it permissible for him to marry despite his lack of money, his psychological illness, and his brothers' hesitation regarding his marriage?
It is recommended to supplicate for a righteous wife and good offspring, while having a good opinion of Allah, for Allah Almighty says: {And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you."} Marriage is one of the best solutions for your situation and you should hasten to it, as it is obligatory for anyone who fears temptation for himself. It is also a cause of richness, for Allah Almighty says: {And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty.} If marriage is not possible, then you must fast, attend gatherings of knowledge, keep company with the righteous, and fill your free time with what benefits. Masturbation is forbidden, but Allah accepts the repentance of whoever repents and turns to Him, for Allah Almighty says: {But indeed, I am the Forgiver of whoever repents, believes, does righteousness, and then is guided.} And beware of despairing of Allah's mercy.
