Do we initially negate attributes that denote imperfection—such as crying—or do we withhold judgment concerning them, or do we not negate them if doubts are raised about them, and what is the criterion for knowing if an attribute is one of imperfection?

Allah the Almighty is free from all imperfect attributes such as weeping. He possesses attributes of absolute perfection in which nothing resembles Him. The principle in affirming attributes for Allah the Almighty is to affirm what He has affirmed for Himself of perfect attributes, and what has been supported by evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah (definition). Imperfect attributes such as sadness, weeping, hunger, and thirst are negated from Allah, while perfect attributes such as joy, laughter, and wrath are affirmed for Him the Almighty.
