Is it permissible to pray during the period of lochia cessation, which did not last forty days, after the death of the fetus in the fifth month and its delivery?

The prevalent opinion is that the maximum duration of post-natal bleeding (nifas (definition)) is forty days. If the nifas blood flows intermittently before the completion of forty days, the woman is considered to be in a state of nifas during the times the blood is present. Upon observing one of the two signs of purity (al-qassah al-bayda' - the white discharge, or dryness of the area), she is considered pure, and should perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) and pray.
