How sound is the Hadith: "Religion is معاملة [dealings/interactions]"? May Allah reward you.

The saying "Religion is معاملة (interaction/treatment)" is popular among people, but it was not found in the hadith sources. It most likely functions as a proverb that indicates the importance of ethics in a Muslim's religion. Prophetic texts have affirmed this, including: "I was only sent to perfect noble character," and his (peace be upon him) saying: "Shall I not inform you of the most beloved of you to me and the closest of you to my assembly on the Day of Resurrection?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "The best of you in character," and his saying: "Indeed, among the best of you are those with the best character." Thus, a Muslim, through his character, becomes a caller to Islam.
