Is it permissible for a non-mahram man to lower a woman into the grave in the presence of her mahrams?

There is no harm in a man descending into a woman's grave, even if he is not a mahram to her. The Sunnah has indeed permitted this. It is reported from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu Talhah descended into the grave of the Prophet's daughter (peace and blessings be upon him). Ibn Battal interpreted "he did not have intercourse last night" to mean sexual intercourse. Ibn Uthaymeen affirmed that any man, whether a mahram or not, can descend into a woman's grave, and it is preferable for someone who is more knowledgeable about the burial method or who is one of her mahrams. Muhammad ibn Ibrahim mentioned that there is no harm in a non-mahram man entering a woman's grave and untying the knots of her shrouds, even if there is a mahram present. Ibn Hazm stated that the most deserving person to lower a woman into her grave is he who has not had intercourse that night, even if he is a non-mahram.
