What is the ruling on asking for financial help inside the mosque, and is it obligatory to help him or to prevent him?

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on begging in the mosque. Some consider it disliked (makruh), due to the hardship it imposes on the beggar, while others have been more stringent in prohibiting it, even going so far as to declare it forbidden (haram).

It is disliked to give to a beggar in the mosque, because it is an assistance to something disliked.

However, it is permissible to give charity to someone who does not beg in the mosque, or if the preacher encourages giving charity therein. Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged giving charity in the mosque.
