What is the expiation for one who broke multiple oaths, each sworn with a separate intention, and each time placed his hand on the Qur'an, and does the expiation lapse upon death, or does it remain outstanding?

First: Disliking what is forbidden and swearing to abstain from it indicates faith and fear of Allah. One should turn to Allah Almighty and frequently supplicate Him for steadfastness.

Second: Whoever repeatedly swears an oath concerning one matter and then breaks it owes a single expiation, which is feeding ten poor persons, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If one cannot find any of these, then fasting three days. However, if one performs expiation for the first oath and then repeats the oath, a second expiation is due if it is broken, and so on. But if one repeats oaths concerning multiple actions, then an expiation is due for each oath.

Third: What is said about a person remaining "suspended" due to not fulfilling an oath (expiation) refers to debts owed to people. Rights related to human beings are not expiated by martyrdom. The expiation for an oath is a debt that must be paid from the deceased's estate before its distribution.
