If I wish to perform Umrah after Hajj, is it necessary to go outside the Haram to ihram for it while I am still in the state of ihram for Hajj? Was Aisha's Umrah after the Farewell Tawaf or before it? Does going outside the Haram to ihram for Umrah necessitate an expiation (dam) due to abandoning the Farewell Tawaf specific to Hajj?

If you wish to perform 'Umrah from Makkah after Hajj, it is necessary for you to go out to the hill (area outside the Haram boundary), like Al-Tan'im, to assume ihram from there; otherwise, a dam (sacrificial offering) will be incumbent upon you. It is not permissible to assume ihram for 'Umrah while you are still in the state of ihram for Hajj; rather, you must first exit the state of ihram. Going out to the hill to assume ihram from there before the farewell tawaf is permissible. 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) assumed ihram for 'Umrah from Al-Tan'im after she had completed Hajj and before the farewell tawaf. The farewell tawaf is obligatory in Hajj for those who are not residents of Makkah, and failure to perform it necessitates a dam; it is sunnah (recommended) in 'Umrah.
