Is it permissible for a mother to eat and drink with her children from the money allocated to them from their father's inheritance after his death? How should food be divided between males and females? And is it permissible for visitors to eat from this money?

An orphan's mother has no guardianship over their wealth unless she has been appointed as their guardian. Otherwise, guardianship belongs to the mature grandfather or the ruler/Sharia judge.

If the guardianship is transferred to the mother, she is permitted to mix her food with the orphans' food, and their food with one another, provided that the intention is for improvement and gentleness towards them, and there is no favoritism towards the guardian's wealth. The jurists have permitted this if there is no injustice to the orphan's wealth.

A guardian is permitted to invite people and feed them from this mixed food, provided that there is no injustice to the orphans, by first setting aside sufficient food for the orphan, and the feeding is from the guardian's share.

Some scholars have permitted generosity in spending on the orphan during occasions such as Eid, weddings, and circumcisions, provided there is no extravagance. Those present may eat from it in a reasonable manner.

The one in charge of the orphans' affairs may eat from the orphan's wealth in a reasonable manner if they are poor. The mother may be provided for from the wealth of her orphans if she is in need.
