Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) prohibit performing ablution in the place of istinja' (cleaning oneself after relieving oneself)?
We do not know of any prohibition against performing ablution (wudu') in the place of istinja' (cleaning oneself after relieving oneself). However, it is disliked because it is a place of impurities and a dwelling for devils, and because uttering the name of Allah (Tasmiyah) is prescribed for ablution, while remembrance of Allah is disliked in the lavatory. Nevertheless, ablution performed there is valid if its conditions and pillars are fulfilled.
