Is filial piety truly prioritized over prayer?

If what is meant is the obligatory prayer or congregational prayer, then there is no contradiction between it and honoring one's parents. Rather, prayer takes precedence over honoring parents, as in the hadith: "Prayer at its appointed time, then honoring one's parents." As for supererogatory prayers, honoring one's parents takes precedence over them, because honoring parents is an individual obligation (fard ayn), whereas supererogatory prayers are not. If it is possible to combine maintaining prayer with satisfying one's parents, then that is preferable.
