Is it better to take the maid for 'Umrah, or to donate the cost of her 'Umrah to the poor?

Prioritizing acts of worship is delicate and depends on the need of the recipient of charity; there isn't a single, universally applicable rule for charity. Giving charity to a domestic worker is more meritorious if there are no needy or distressed relatives, especially if she has not performed Umrah before. Needy relatives are more deserving of charity, and Hajj and Umrah are better than charity of their equivalent value for one who purifies their intention. Similarly, giving charity to the closer neighbor is better than to the distant one, and the domestic worker's status is no less than that of a neighbor.
