Is a husband's leaving his parents' home for independent living considered disobedience to them, knowing that they are capable of living on their own, and this is due to the harm inflicted by the husband's mother upon his wife and her preventing the husband from communicating with her?

It is not an act of disobedience for a husband to live in a separate residence from his parents. In fact, if his remaining with them would expose his wife to harm, then he must promptly move to an independent home. Obedience to parents is not absolute, and he is not permitted to obey them if it involves oppressing his wife or diminishing her rights. Rather, he must fear Allah and treat her with kindness.
