If the intention is the mother's relinquishment of custody of her child, the ruling depends on whether custody is a right of the custodian or of the child. If it is a right of the custodian, then there is no blame upon her for relinquishing it if there is someone else to care for the child.

However, if the intention is the mother's refusal to breastfeed her child, then it is not permissible if that would lead to the neglect of the child due to the unavailability of a wet nurse. But if leaving breastfeeding does not harm the child, then there is no objection.
