Is it permissible to listen to a woman's voice if she softens her speech and there is no fear of temptation?

It is not permissible for a man to listen to a woman's voice that is softened or made delicate without need, even if he is safe from temptation. The voice of a non-mahram woman is not considered 'awrah according to the sound opinion of the Hanbali madhhab, but it is forbidden to derive pleasure from listening to it. Some jurists have stated that it is reprehensible to listen to a woman's voice without need. However, if there is a need to listen to a woman's softened voice and one is safe from temptation, then there is no harm in that case.
