It is not permissible for a man to listen to a woman's voice that is softened or made delicate without need, even if he is safe from temptation. The voice of a non- woman is not considered 'awrah according to the sound opinion of the Hanbali , but it is forbidden to derive pleasure from listening to it. Some jurists have stated that it is reprehensible to listen to a woman's voice without need. However, if there is a need to listen to a woman's softened voice and one is safe from temptation, then there is no harm in that case.
