The wife's family does not have the right to separate her from her husband because he harmed her sister. Rather, they should refer the matter to the judiciary for his chastisement. As for divorce, it is in the hands of the husband or the judge. The woman is advised to separate from her husband if he does not repent from drinking alcohol, because alcohol is the mother of all evils, and separating from a wicked husband is recommended.
