Is it obligatory to treat papers containing the word "Mecca" with respect by not throwing them in the trash?

The name "Mecca" is among the names that should be glorified Islamically because of its mention in the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Therefore, phrases containing this name or any phrase written in Arabic should not be discarded in the trash, out of respect for the written script, even if they do not contain Quranic verses or Prophetic traditions. This is the view held by some scholars, such as the relied-upon position among the Malikis and Hanafis.
