Is it permissible for a wife to refuse to breastfeed her child naturally without a medical reason, thereby negatively affecting the child's health and development, given that the husband has provided her with all means of comfort?
The wife is obliged to serve her husband in accordance with common practice. It is important for the spouses to reach an understanding and to consider the best interests of the child and the family to avoid conflict and achieve tranquility and stability, which is the greatest purpose of marriage. This is in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought." Conjugal life is based on cooperation and complementarity between the spouses.
