There is no specific place required for the marriage contract; it is permissible in the mosque or the home. It is also permissible for the father to appoint an agent to marry off his daughter.

Among the conditions for the validity of the marriage is the designation of the spouses. If the wife is known by mentioning her name, or her description, or by pointing to her in a way that removes any ambiguity, then the contract is valid.

The contract is also valid by designating the wife through reality, such as when the father says: "I give you my daughter in marriage," and he has no other daughters, or he has only one unmarried daughter and the rest are married.
