What is the ruling on a woman regularly looking in the mirror and styling her hair?

The default ruling is that looking in a mirror is permissible for both men and women, and it is part of the Sunnah. There is no harm for a woman in styling and arranging her hair in a manner that does not involve imitation of disbelieving women. A weak Hadith was narrated from Anas that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) looked in the mirror, he would say: "Praise be to Allah Who made my creation complete and balanced it, and fashioned the image of my face and made it beautiful, and made me among the Muslims." It is recommended to look in the mirror and praise Allah for one's good character and physical appearance. However, preoccupation with this should be within the bounds of necessity. If it exceeds that, it is not praiseworthy, and if it distracts from an obligation, it transitions from permissibility to prohibition.
