Is it obligatory to inform one's fiancée about the presence of a spinal illness before marriage?

People's dealings should be based on sincere advice and free from deception and fraud. A suitor must inform his fiancée of any defect in him if concealing it would be considered deceit. A defect that affects marriage is one that is repulsive and harmful to marital life. Ibn al-Qayyim believes that any defect that repels the other spouse and frustrates the purpose of marriage necessitates the option (of annulment), and that disclosing a defect in marriage is more imperative and obligatory than in a sale. Ibn 'Uthaymin believes that a defect is what people consider a defect and what prevents or diminishes sexual enjoyment. If a spinal column disease affects the ability to have intercourse or provide for maintenance, then it is a defect that must be disclosed. However, if it does not affect these, then concealing it is not considered deceit.
