What is the status of the sayings of the Companions in creed, rulings, and exegesis, and has any scholar undertaken a scholarly graduation (takhrij) of their sayings?

There is no disagreement among scholars that the Companions are the most knowledgeable of people regarding the Book of Allah and the Sunnah (definition) of His Messenger, in terms of exegesis, rulings, and creed. This is because the Qur’an was revealed among them, and they witnessed the occasions of its revelation, and because they were the most knowledgeable of people concerning the Arabic language. Allah praised them in the Qur’an, and was pleased with them and with those who followed them, and He warned against those who opposed their path. Therefore, their statements regarding exegesis, creed, and rulings are paramount. If they reached a consensus on something, it is forbidden to contradict them, because they were most knowledgeable about it due to the circumstances and conditions they witnessed, and because of their complete understanding, sound knowledge, and righteous deeds. Their statements are widely available in the books of Sunnah and the collections of Islam.
