What is the ruling on worshippers taking books or booklets placed at the mosque entrance without knowing the intention of the person who placed them there?

Books in the mosque are either for lending or for gifting. To determine which, one should refer to those in charge of the mosque or to the condition set by the endower (waqif). If they are a gift, it is permissible to take and own them. If they are for lending, it is permissible to benefit from them, with the obligation to return them. If the endower stipulated that they should not leave the mosque, then it is permissible to benefit from them only within the mosque. If no condition was stipulated, then if custom dictates their lending, it is permissible to borrow them and then return them.
