Makeup is permissible for a woman if it is for her husband or mahrams, or if she will go out with her face covered by the . However, if she will go out with her face uncovered, she is not permitted to wear makeup, due to the Almighty's saying: "And let them not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof; and let them draw their headcovers over their bosoms, and not expose their adornment except to their husbands" [An-Nur: 31].
