Sensory impurity means that the essence of a thing is impure, such as urine, and whatever it touches must be washed. As for abstract impurity, it means that a thing is impure in its meaning, not in its essence, like the disbeliever whose impurity is spiritual due to polytheism, or intoxicants whose impurity is due to their being from the work of Satan.
