What is the ruling on masturbation for an unmarried young man? Is it permissible for him to do it if he fears falling into zina (unlawful sexual intercourse)? Are there any harms associated with it? And can a young man prevent himself from engaging in it despite what he sees in the streets?

Masturbation is forbidden, and some scholars only permit it out of necessity. Whoever seeks Allah's help, holds fast to His rope, sincerely asks Him to avert evil and indecency, and adopts prophetic remedies like fasting, will be guided away from committing this act. And whoever slips and commits it, let him repent, for the door of repentance is open, and the one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. Masturbation has many harms.
