If the vowed act is performed without the intention of fulfilling the vow, does the vow thereby become void?

Initiating a vow (nadhr) is disliked (makruh), and it is divided into categories, some of which are not valid from the outset, and some for which it is not prescribed to fulfill. If the vow was to fast and one performed it without specifically intending it as fulfillment of the vow, then it is not sufficient and remains a liability, because an obligatory fast must be specified by intention.
