What are the sayings of the people of knowledge regarding how to achieve the true piety of Allah, as is due to Him, as stated in His saying, the Exalted: "O you who have believed, fear Allah as is His due"?

There are varying interpretations among exegetes regarding the Exalted's saying: (Fear Allah with the fear due to Him - Ittaqullaaha haqqa tuqaatih). Many of them held that it was abrogated by the Exalted's saying: (So fear Allah as much as you are able - Fattaqullaaha mastata’tum). While others maintain that it is not abrogated, and that "the fear due to Him" means absolute obedience to Allah, continuous gratitude to Him, remembrance of Him without forgetfulness, or striving against the self for His sake with due diligence and upholding justice. Still others suggest that "the fear due to Him" means exaggerating in obeying Allah's commands and avoiding His prohibitions as much as possible, which is the closest interpretation to the truth.
