What is the ruling on a man shaking hands with another man while wearing gloves, and is it permissible to pray while wearing them?

Men shaking hands with one another is legislated, and the ruling does not change if it is done with a glove, nor does shaking hands with a glove remove its name [as a handshake]. The majority of scholars hold the permissibility of prayer for one who wears gloves, in contrast to a weak opinion among the Shafi'is. The correct view among the Shafi'is is that the hands are not like the forehead in the obligation of being uncovered. The more preponderant view is that it is disliked to prostrate on an attached barrier that separates the forehead or hands from the ground, and this dislike is removed if there is an excuse such as heat or cold.
