Is alcohol permissible in Christianity, with evidence from the Gospel?

The current Gospel is not a reliable reference, and it is not permissible to believe what is in it, because most of it was composed by human authors. It is not permissible to read it except for a scholar who intends to refute it. Even if it were as it was originally revealed, it would not be considered a reference for what is lawful and unlawful among Muslims; rather, the reference is the Holy Quran, which abrogated what preceded it and forbade intoxicants with Allah's Almighty saying: "Intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing to] stone altars [and] divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it." [Quran 5:90] It appears that intoxicants were forbidden in the religion of Jesus (peace be upon him), but priests and kings permitted them in the legislations they laid down. Among the superstitions of the Christians is the "Lord's Supper," which includes drinking wine and claiming it is the blood of Jesus, while Dr. Munqidh As-Saqqar quotes a warning that whoever drinks intoxicants will be deprived of Paradise.
