Is it considered forbidden to be compelled to do something against one's personal desire, which may amount to hypocrisy, in order to avert great harm from oneself, one's family, one's children, and one's work?

If a recognized, legitimate Shar'i necessity compels a person to commit a prohibited act, they are not sinful thereby, nor are they considered a hypocrite, because necessity permits the forbidden. It is incumbent upon anyone who believes their situation constitutes a necessity to present it to people of knowledge to ensure its legal validity, for not everything that is perceived as a necessity is actually considered as such. For instance, if someone is ordered to unjustly kill another, and if they refuse, they will be killed themselves, it is not permissible for them to kill the other person to save themselves.
