Who is the Walī? Are the Awliyā’ of Allah exclusively those who perform miracles? Who are the Abdāl, and did the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, speak of them?

A "Wali" (saint/friend of God) is a pious believer, as confirmed by the Almighty's saying: "Unquestionably, [for] the awliya' (friends) of Allah, there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve Those who believed and used to fear Allah." Thus, sainthood is not restricted to specific individuals, nor is the occurrence of miracles a prerequisite for attaining it. The manifestation of miracles at the hand of a person is not proof of their sainthood, as one cannot definitively affirm anyone's sainthood except after knowing that they died as a believer.
