Does the waiting period (iddah) resume if a divorce occurs during it, such as a man divorcing his wife with three separate pronouncements during the iddah? And what are the opinions of the four imams on this issue?

According to the majority of jurists, the divorce of a woman observing an 'iddah (waiting period) after a revocable divorce is effective, whether or not a reconciliation (raj'ah) occurred during that period. If a man divorces his wife three times, one pronouncement in each period of purity, and no reconciliation intervenes, the majority holds that the 'iddah is counted from the first pronouncement. However, according to one opinion among the Shafi'is, the 'iddah recommences from the third pronouncement.
