Are the hadiths regarding Surat Al-Waqi'ah and its virtues weak or fabricated?
Two hadiths have been narrated concerning the virtue of Surat Al-Waqi'ah:
One is authentic, narrated by At-Tirmidhi and Al-Hakim from Ibn Abbas, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Hud, Al-Waqi'ah, Al-Mursalat, Amma Yatasa'alun, and Idha al-Shamsu Kuwwirat have made me gray," due to the fear of the punishment of the Hereafter and the mention of the descriptions of Paradise contained therein.
The other is weak, narrated by Al-Bayhaqi from Ibn Mas'ud, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever recites Surat Al-Waqi'ah every night, poverty shall never befall him." This hadith is weak due to the weakness of its narrators, its discontinuity, the strangeness of its text, and its inconsistency.
