Does not realizing the opening takbir for forty days in one's entire life indicate the presence of hypocrisy?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Al-Tirmidhi narrated a hadith from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever prays to Allah for forty days in congregation, catching the first takbir, will be granted two immunities: immunity from the Fire and immunity from hypocrisy." Al-Albani graded it hasan (good). The immunity from hypocrisy was interpreted by some scholars as Allah granting the person sincerity and protecting him from the deeds of hypocrites. It does not mean that whoever does not catch the takbiratul ihram for forty days or in his life is a hypocrite or destined for Hellfire, but rather that he has missed out on much good.
