Is it permissible to express an opinion on polygyny, knowing that both monogamy and polygyny are permissible in Islam?

It is not permissible to ask anyone for their opinion on the origin of polygyny because it is a ruling from Allah. Rulings from Allah must not be met with opinions and whims; rather, one must submit to them and accept them. It is permissible to ask what a person prefers for themselves, whether polygyny or remaining with one wife, provided that this question is not directed to a stranger without need. The desirability or undesirability of polygyny is a matter of scholarly disagreement.
