This chain is considered a found item. If it is valuable, it must be announced for a year. If its owner does not appear, it is permissible to use it. If it is not valuable, it is permissible to use it without announcement. It is not permissible for a Muslim to use anything that contains a cross or to gift it; rather, it must be destroyed.
