What is the ruling on eating sweets for the Prophet's Birthday (Mawlid), whether on the day of the Mawlid, before it, or after it, knowing that the celebration itself is an innovation (bid'ah)?

Celebrating the Prophet's Birthday is forbidden because it is a blameworthy innovation (bid'ah muhdathah). One must refrain from participating in it in any way, such as by not sitting at the celebration tables or eating the sweets distributed therein. However, eating sweets separately from the celebration is permissible in itself.
