Paying expiation to charitable organizations is permissible if those in charge of them are trustworthy and they disburse it according to its legitimate channels. Wiping over socks is permissible for one day and one night for a resident, and for three days and their nights for a traveler, provided they were worn after performing ablution. If the period for wiping expires, one must wash their feet, and then they can wear them again and wipe over them. The preponderant opinion is that it is permissible to wipe over torn socks.
