Is it not permissible for a pilgrim in a state of Ihram to raise their hands when supplicating, or should they suffice with gesturing through speech?

The basic principle concerning supplication (Du'a) is the permissibility of raising the hands therein for both a pilgrim in a state of ihram (definition) and others, because it is one of the means by which supplications are answered. There is no text that specifies or exempts a pilgrim in the state of ihram from this general ruling. Scholars have explicitly stated the desirability of raising the hands during supplication in certain rituals, such as the supplication on the Day of Arafat and on Safa. As for gesturing with the hand when speaking, there is no harm in it for a pilgrim in the state of ihram.
