It is not permissible to abort a fetus, even if the pregnancy is a result of illicit sexual relations, especially after four months have passed and the soul has been breathed into it, as this is considered killing a soul. Nor is it permissible to abandon the fetus after its birth without shelter until it dies. Rather, the mother must repent from fornication and bear the consequences of her pregnancy, for this fetus is blameless.
