Is it permissible for a man to shave the hair on his cheeks?

The hair of the cheeks falls under the ruling of the beard. It is not permissible to remove it by shaving or trimming, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Trim the mustaches and let the beards grow; be different from the polytheists." This has been stated explicitly by the author of Al-Qamoos and the author of Al-Lisan.
