Why was "bequeathed" used with the prophets and "revealed" with the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, in His saying: "He has ordained for you of religion that which He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, and that which We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - that establish the religion and do not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whoever He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him]"?

Allah Almighty specifically designated what He revealed to His Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, with divine revelation, in contrast to what He mentioned before and after that concerning the injunctions given to previous prophets. This was to explicitly declare his prophethood, peace and blessings be upon him, and to prevent the disbelievers from challenging his prophethood by claiming that it was merely injunctions to follow those who came before him, and not an independent message.
