Is it permissible to delay marriage due to university studies and the inability to reconcile between the two?
If delaying marriage exposes one to falling into the unlawful, then it is not permissible, because it is obligatory to keep oneself chaste and divert oneself from the unlawful, and the path to that is marriage. However, if there is no fear of temptation by delaying marriage, then it is permissible. It is preferable to hasten it if a person of religion and good character proposes, with the caveat that completing studies is not a justification for delaying marriage, and that repeatedly rejecting suitors is not safe in its consequences. A girl's marriage to a person of religion and good character is more beneficial for her than academic degrees and worldly positions.
