The aforementioned hadith was not mentioned in the books of Sunnah. However, several hadiths have been authentically reported regarding the virtues of Umar, among them the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, Allah has placed the truth upon Umar's tongue, and he speaks it," narrated by Ibn Majah and authenticated by Al-Albani. And his saying: "O Allah, strengthen Islam with Umar ibn Al-Khattab," narrated by Ibn Majah and authenticated by Al-Albani. Moreover, Ali supplicated for mercy upon Umar and mentioned that he used to think that Allah would place him with his two companions because he frequently heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "I came, and Abu Bakr and Umar were with me," and "I entered, and Abu Bakr and Umar were with me," and "I exited, and Abu Bakr and Umar were with me." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also said about him: "By Him in whose hand is my soul, the devil never met you traversing a path except that he took a path other than yours."
