Does the smell of sweat invalidate prayer or not?

Sweat does not invalidate prayer, as there is a consensus that it is not ritually impure. However, it is desirable for a Muslim to purify and cleanse themselves before prayer, based on the Almighty's saying: "O Children of Adam, take your adornment at every place of prayer." This is also to avoid harming the angels and fellow worshippers with an unpleasant odor. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, likened the smell of sweat to the smell of garlic and onions, from which the angels are discomforted. Therefore, he encouraged bathing, especially on Fridays. Scholars have differed regarding the obligation of the Friday bath: the majority consider it desirable, while Ibn Taymiyyah views it as obligatory for anyone whose odor might bother others.
