However, it is established that places of impurity are dwellings for devils, and that these "places of filth are attended" – meaning the devil attends them. And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to seek refuge from male and female evil spirits when entering the latrine, and mentioning the name of Allah conceals the private parts of the Children of Adam from the eyes of the jinn.
