How can one achieve devotion (khushu') in prayer, and is contemplating God's verses a means to that, and what are the ways to get rid of Satan's whispers in it, especially during prostration and bowing?

Humility (khushu') is the soul of prayer, and without it, movements become lifeless. To attain it, a Muslim should turn to Allah Almighty, frequently supplicate Him, and adopt the means to achieve it, such as pondering the Quran and performing remembrance (dhikr). It should be noted that Allah praises the humble in His saying: "Successful indeed are the believers, those who are humble in their prayers." Prayer without humility does not bear fruit in deterring from immorality and wrongdoing, and one misses the pleasure of intimate communion with Allah. One must realize that they are standing before Allah, and that He is aware of what is secret and what is manifest. To get rid of the whispers of Satan, one should turn to Allah, seek refuge in Him, occupy oneself with the means of humility, and recite the two Mu'awwidhat (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas) as part of the morning and evening remembrances.
